WHO EVER WANTS TO STUDY LANGUAGES OR TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION!
I just want to talk about what is studying languages in the university, don't forget this is from the point of view of a student.
There's something discouraging about this. Usually when you think in people who studied languages or is studying or also what do you think it is about, you could think, "well they are people who like languages, they will study and travel all around the word learning more languages and cultures, or maybe they will be translators or interpreters, with tons of knowledge about grammar rules of more than 10 languages.
But what's being a languages student like?
You have to learn lots of other "useful" but boring things, (in my case) psycholinguistics, epistemology, educational psychology, second language acquisition (I like everything related to languages like linguistics but this subject is really boring)., lots of subjects about how to be English teacher.
And actually the most important thing (learning languages) is shelved, we only have 3 hours of Italian per week. That's freakin' frustrating, because that's what I most want.
So when you find yourself writing and studying other senseless things, while outside there are people younger than you who knows more that 6 languages, you just piss off and freak out about your future in that school.
And also you find out that other people with other careers are traveling to other countries and learning other languages, while you are still there, that fact drives you crazy.
Right now I'm kinda thoughtful and downhearted, I go to school because I don't have anything else to do, but in these moments the school is not making sense for me.
"I just want to leave it and not to do anything but being alone."
